Iranian MP accuses Gulf states, Yemeni official blames Tehran for humanitarian crisis in Yemen
Iranian MP accuses Gulf states, Yemeni official blames Tehran for humanitarian crisis in Yemen recounts a dispute during the 20th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Iranian lawmaker Ruhollah Motefakkerazad criticized remarks by UAE and Yemeni representatives, saying US and Israeli military equipment, including combat aircraft, had been used against Iran from territories of some Muslim countries, while those states allegedly supported operations. He rejected claims by others that Iran acted as the victim, emphasizing that Iran suffered “major losses” but that the “will of the Iranian people” was not broken. Motefakkerazad also accused the Yemeni representative of making “unfounded accusations” about Iran and said regional security requires cooperation and solidarity among Islamic states. Representatives from the UAE and Yemen objected, and Yemen’s House of Representatives speaker Sultan Saeed Al-Barakani replied using references to the Iran-Iraq War and peace terms.
