John Harbaugh Crossed The Line To Steal Jeffery Simmons
John Harbaugh’s attempt to force a trade for defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons reportedly broke the unwritten NFL process by going directly to Tennessee owner Amy Adams Strunk, bypassing general managers. The deal still happened—but not for the Giants. Chicago acquired Simmons instead, sending the Titans their 2027 and 2028 first-round picks plus a fourth-rounder, along with an additional fifth-round pick in 2028, according to the Associated Press. The Giants received nothing after the owner declined to overstep Mike Borgonzi. For the Bears, the trade instantly reshaped the defense: Simmons is a four-time Pro Bowler and had four pressures versus double teams, the most in the league this season, while the rest of the defense totaled 14. Simmons is set to face the Seattle Seahawks on Monday, Nov. 2.
