Justin Cryer wasn't a Texas fan. Now he wants to win it all with the Longhorns
xCruzo Brief
Justin Cryer says he didn’t closely follow Texas football when he was growing up, largely because the program was struggling during parts of the Mack Brown era and through later coaching cycles. The Austin-area senior linebacker—listed at 6-foot-1 and 241 pounds—went from being a non-fan in high school to aiming for Texas at the Longhorns’ current moment of strength, after being a preseason top-five team in both major polls. Cryer played college football at Florida State after considering baseball and enrolling at Northwestern, where he left following the firing of coach Pat Fitzgerald tied to a hazing scandal. His brother, L.J. Cryer, plays for the Golden State Warriors.
