Kerry boss Jack O'Connor admits Mayo had more 'energy' and 'hunger' in All-Ireland final win

Kerry manager Jack O’Connor said Mayo’s greater “energy” and “hunger” were decisive factors in Sunday’s All-Ireland Football final. O’Connor had been aiming for his sixth All-Ireland title with Kerry and to win back-to-back trophies after last year’s comfortable victory over Donegal. Instead, Mayo delivered a relentless performance to end a 75-year wait for a fourth Sam Maguire triumph, winning 1-20 to 1-17. O’Connor acknowledged Kerry fought until the end and felt they could have salvaged a draw and forced extra time, but said a couple of passes went astray at the end. “On the balance,” he concluded, Mayo were better on the day.
