Lane Kiffin, Pete Golding get along? What we know before Ole Miss football vs LSU

Pete Golding and Lane Kiffin will share familiar history but different sideline roles when No. 9 Ole Miss hosts No. 7 LSU at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on Sept. 19 at 6:30 p.m. (ABC). Kiffin left Ole Miss for LSU ahead of last season’s College Football Playoff, while Golding was promoted from defensive coordinator to head coach and guided the Rebels to the CFP semifinals. Golding said he has “no ill will” toward Kiffin, noting regular texts and competitive respect. He also urged Ole Miss fans not to let hostility spill into conduct, saying being loud is fine but not losing what the program has built. Their coaching connection began when Kiffin hired Golding in 2023.
