Lansdale Catholic OL Smith makes big-time college commitment | Exclusive follows Terrance Smith, an offensive tackle from Lansdale Catholic, who committed to LSU in late June. Smith, who is listed at 6-7 and 285 pounds, said his path to football included a reluctance early on, but he returned and grew after his freshman season with the Crusaders. After that freshman year, he received his first college offer, and he later attended a Rutgers camp where head coach Greg Schiano offered him a scholarship. Smith said he and his mother reacted with disbelief. Rutgers, along with Auburn, Texas and Florida, remained in the running before he chose LSU. Lansdale Catholic coach Dom D’Addona said interest came from major programs including Alabama, Oklahoma, Penn State, Michigan, Notre Dame and Tennessee. Smith will miss much of his junior season after tearing the ACL in his left knee, and he is now focused on his senior campaign after a run to the PIAA Class 2A semifinals.
