LeBron James has yet to announce his next NBA team 24 days after saying he would not return to the Los Angeles Lakers, leaving teams and the league waiting while the offseason decision drags on. Rumors had intensified over the weekend, but the NBA still needs to finalize its 2026-27 schedule, a process dependent on James’ destination. The five reported contenders—Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves and Philadelphia 76ers—must either sign him or adjust rosters if he chooses otherwise. James said last Thursday at Fanatics Fest, in New York, that he would not “hold” people up too much longer, and his agent Rich Paul said the teams were not expected to hear additional information.
