Lewis Hall has proven he is England's best - but he grew up with Newcastle dream

Lewis Hall has quickly gone from Newcastle supporter as a kid to one of England’s most trusted left-backs, delivering standout performances after earning a recall to the national squad. In the past week, he showed why Newcastle had already moulded him into a Premier League top-tier option, highlighted by his Champions League knockout showing against Barcelona at St James’ Park, where he helped keep Lamine Yamal quiet. Hall missed the US squad trip and returned to pre-season in July, then signed a new contract and began the season strongly under Matthias Jaissle. After sitting out England’s 3-2 loss to Spain, he started both wins over Czechia and Croatia and rekindled his link with Anthony Gordon on the left.
