Marina Mabrey tied the WNBA single-game scoring record by scoring 53 points in Tempo’s historic 125-94 win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday night. The Toronto Tempo star hit nine three-pointers and helped the team set the highest point total for a regulation game in WNBA history. Mabrey scored 27 points by halftime and added 12 more by the end of the third quarter, reaching 39 points before the final period. She finished 17-of-28 overall and 9-of-18 from three-point range, with six rebounds and two assists. Tempo’s inaugural-season squad—built through an expansion draft—fed Mabrey in the late stages, as the record chase continued with about two minutes left.
