Miami coach Mario Cristobal said he wasn’t overly concerned about a “sloppy” finish after the Hurricanes’ 33-20 win over Wake Forest on Friday night. He told Scott Van Pelt on SportsCenter that Miami played complementary football: the offense was “on fire” for much of the first half, then the defense took over, including producing a safety and sealing the game with Ethan O’Connor’s late interception. Cristobal acknowledged the ending got untidy as Miami became banged up, especially at running back and tackle, forcing reserves into a heavier workload. He said Malachi Toney’s reps were managed after halftime and that the receiver finished with 11 catches for 113 yards and a touchdown. Darian Mensah was 30-of-34 with three scores after starting 24-for-24, and Miami is 3-0 before hosting Central Michigan next Saturday.
