Monaghan Cllr highlights dangerous driving locally

North Monaghan councillor Pauric Clerkin has called for stronger action against drink and drug driving, saying it is unacceptable that people are taking to the roads under the influence and putting others at risk. Clerkin wants an increased Garda presence, particularly to curb speeding and other safety issues in villages across North Monaghan. He also urged Monaghan County Council to speed up plans for traffic-calming measures in Ballinode, Tydavnet and Scotstown. The councillor said the worrying rise is reflected in motorists increasingly ignoring road rules, and called on authorities to respond before conditions worsen.
