Montgomery tabbed as new head coach for West girls basketball
Montgomery tabbed as new head coach for West girls basketball signals a leadership change for the West Senators after a breakthrough season. LeAnn Montgomery, a former Piketon High School player and graduate as well as a junior high head coach, will replace Doran Martin, who resigned following the 2025-26 campaign. Martin went 15-10, including an OHSAA Division V District Final appearance, even as key forward Macey Whisman missed five games due to injury. Whisman, Brayleigh Pistole, and Hailey Carver earned All-Southeast District honors. Entering 2026-27, West returns all five starters and all but two of its top 10 rotation players from 2025-26, aiming to build on its first-ever conference championship and deepest tournament run. The program also has a 73.3% winning rate since 2020, supported by a streak of strong academic years and recent coaching stability.
