NFL players with Utah ties who made it through cutdown day -- and those who didn't

Cutdown day is over for the 2026 NFL season, and all 32 teams have set initial 53-man rosters. After Sept. 9, clubs can begin building practice squads, but this weekend meant releases or waivers for more than 1,000 players. For players with Utah ties, the numbers were mixed: 34 players who played Utah college or high school football were cut, and four more were moved to reserve lists, while 54 with Utah connections made initial rosters. The University of Utah led with 23 former Utes, followed by BYU with 12 and Utah State with four. Seven rookies with Utah ties made the cut, including undrafted guard Tanoa Togiai.
