NFL preseason roundup: Jack Strand shines as Falcons rout Colts

Former Division II quarterback Jack Strand threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score as the visiting Atlanta Falcons routed the Indianapolis Colts 34-6 in NFL preseason action on Saturday. Strand, an undrafted rookie from Minnesota State-Moorhead, completed 12 of 17 passes for 212 yards, including a 13-yard TD to fellow rookie Cash Jones, and added a 16-yard rushing score early in the third quarter. Cooper Rush also impressed at quarterback for Atlanta, going 10-for-11 for 86 yards. Atlanta outgained Indianapolis 461-164, while the Colts scored only on two Spencer Shrader field goals. In other games, Detroit beat Washington 17-13, and Buffalo defeated Cleveland 31-7.
