NFL owners approved Wednesday the $9.612 billion sale of the Seattle Seahawks to Vinod Khosla and his family, who are part owners of the San Francisco 49ers. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell congratulated the family, citing “great timing” in buying a franchise that has won its second Super Bowl in team history. The purchase agreement was announced July 11 and required approval at a special owners meeting in Atlanta to become official, aligning with the wishes of late owner Paul Allen. Vinod Khosla thanked Jody Allen and the Allen Trust. In other NFL notes, Giants WR Calvin Austin suffered a torn ACL expected to end his season.
