Paul Finebaum Believes a Major SEC Program Can't Overcome Its Schedule

With the 2026 college football season already underway via Week 0 games, ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum raised doubts about Florida’s ability to overcome its schedule despite a coaching overhaul. Finebaum said new Gators head coach Jon Sumrall can elevate the program, but he fears the timetable will be too difficult. Sumrall arrives after success at Troy (23-4 in two seasons) and Tulane (20-8), including an 11-3 campaign and College Football Playoff berth last year. Florida has struggled with losing seasons in four of the past five years and cycled through multiple coaches.
