Penn State football should miss these 2 promising players vs Marshall

Penn State is expected to miss tight end Gabe Burkle and linebacker Alex Tatsch when it opens its season Saturday against Marshall in Beaver Stadium. Head coach Matt Campbell said Tuesday, Sept. 1, that both players are close to full go but not expected to play until the second game, Sept. 12, at Temple in Lincoln Financial Field. Defensive back Jeremiah Cooper, a senior transfer from Iowa State returning from a torn ACL, is considered “probable” for the opener and is expected to slot at safety, though he can also cover other defensive back roles. Junior linebacker Tony Rojas is also set to return after missing most of last season with an ACL injury. Cooper has 11 career interceptions and will start alongside another transfer, Marcus Neal Jr., unless adjustments are needed.
