Peru Inflation Tops 5%, a Three-Year High
xCruzo Brief
Peru’s annual inflation jumped to 5.25% in October, the first time it has exceeded 5% since September 2023, according to INEI, Peru’s national statistics institute. Prices rose 0.57% in Lima Metropolitana in October, while nationwide the monthly increase was 0.56%. The rise lifted the 12-month rate from 4.55% in September by 0.70 points. Higher food costs led the increase, with fish up in Lima due to warmer sea conditions linked to El Niño Costero. Vegetables rose sharply, while eggs and some services fell. Fuel and transport also climbed as gasohol, vehicle gas, and diesel gained.
