Tennessee guard will make more money than LeBron James next season

LeBron James announced he will play for the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2026-27 NBA season, his 24th year in the league. He said he initially thought he was done after last season and needed time to decide, adding that he is not pursuing the move for “money” or “family.” James said his goal is to compete for another championship and help energize a new fan base, thanking LA, Miami, and noting Northeast Ohio as home. Financially, he will earn a career-low $3.8 million. The Athletic’s Brendan Marks and Joe Rexrode report that at least 18 men’s college basketball players will make more than James next season.
