The first hearing in the Kubilay Kaan Kundakçı murder case is taking place today, marking the start of proceedings for the alleged killing of the footballer in Ümraniye. Alaattin Kadayıfçıoğlu and Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu, who face life imprisonment, and İzzet Yıldızhan, who faces up to five years, appear before the judge for the first time at 10:30 AM at the Istanbul Anadolu 23rd Heavy Penal Court. The prosecution indictment says the incident occurred on the night of March 19 on Sıddık Street, when Kubilay Kundakçı (21) was seriously injured after Kadayıfçıoğlu opened fire and later died in hospital. The Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office seeks life sentences for intentional killing-related charges and requests 6 months to five years for İzzet Yıldızhan on harboring charges.
