Top 10 Oregon State Football Games Since 2000: #4 - Beavers Hold Off #3 USC in 2006 revisits one of the defining upsets of the 2006 college football season. In October 2006 at Corvallis, Oregon State (OSU) hosted a USC team that arrived having won 27 straight conference games and ranked No. 3 nationally, while the Beavers had suffered three disappointing losses and hadn’t beaten USC in six years. Early plays showed OSU’s passing effectiveness as quarterback Matt Moore connected with Sammie Stroughter and produced a 70-yard drive ending in an OSU early lead. Momentum swung sharply when John David Booty was intercepted by Bryan Payton, and later Alexis Serna added three field goals as OSU led 16-10 at halftime. After USC went three-and-out in the third quarter, Greg Woidneck’s punt retrieval by Stroughter helped OSU build a larger cushion with a TD to Joe Newton, going up 23-10.
