Vanderbilt Football Is Pushing Georgia Football In Athens. Can It Put It On Upset Watch?
xCruzo Brief
Vanderbilt entered halftime trailing No. 2 Georgia 21-14 at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia, after pushing the Bulldogs more than expected. The Commodores outgained Georgia 234-215 overall and dominated the ground game with 72 rushing yards to Georgia’s 20, while running 35 plays versus Georgia’s 29. Vanderbilt’s Clark Lea said the team wasn’t “penciling in a scheduled loss,” and backup quarterback Blaze Berlowitz helped keep the game close. Berlowitz, playing after Jared Curtis was ruled out with a knee bruise, went 8-for-17 for 162 yards and a touchdown, plus 33 rushing yards. The second half will test whether Vanderbilt can sustain that pressure.
