Was recalled to prison after doing shots with Liz Truss'
Notorious former bare-knuckle boxer Dougie Joyce says he was recalled to prison after a social-media clip where he met former UK Prime Minister Liz Truss at a football stadium in Scunthorpe in May 2025. Joyce, a member of one of Greater Manchester’s well-known Traveller families, had been released following a conviction for attacking a pensioner in a Northern Quarter pub, for which he was sentenced to 19 months for GBH. Police had described him as “aggressive and violent,” intending to intimidate and inflict pain on a vulnerable 78-year-old. In an interview on YouTube channel Not Guilty TV, Joyce said he was on probation and an “alcohol tag,” meaning his alcohol intake was monitored. He claimed probation allowed increased drinking units for his birthday weekend, and that he returned home to be told he was being recalled. He also said Truss “got drunk off the whiskey” and called her “a lovely woman,” while noting the public reaction surprised people.
