Win for Hussein Mohamed as regulatory body clears Sh42m insurance deal
Hussein Mohamed secured another win after a regulator cleared a Sh42 million insurance deal linked to CHAN 2024. The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President said the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) found no irregularities, stating the 2024 CHAN tender complied with CAF rules. In a letter dated June 22, PPRA told FKF Acting CEO Dennis Gicheru it closed the investigation because it determined that no Kenyan public funds were used, even though FKF is classified as a public entity. PPRA director general Patrick Wanjuki said the insurance arrangements involving M/s Riskwell Insurance Brokers were funded through a CAF-controlled account and administered under CAF procurement and financial procedures. The decision follows Hussein’s temporary suspension in April 2024 over a Sh42 million scandal, which FIFA rejected as unconstitutional. The Sports Disputes Tribunal later quashed that suspension, citing irregular procedures.
