WNBA star receives death threats following controversial Caitlin Clark incident
WNBA All-Star Alyssa Thomas said she has received death threats following a viral incident involving Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark. Thomas, a forward for the Phoenix Mercury, received a one-game suspension after an on-court clash on June 25 that drew attention after replay review. She said her fist appeared to make contact with Clark’s throat, though officials did not call a foul at the moment. Thomas told reporters via a clip on X that she and others were targeted online, saying they did not even know the play occurred until after the game. She called the threats “unacceptable,” and argued the league must do more regarding player safety, including concerns about leaked addresses and racial slurs. Thomas maintained the incident was a “complete accident.”
