World Cup absence of Jerry Jones at the home of his Dallas Cowboys is finally about to end
Jerry Jones’ long-awaited return to a World Cup at his Dallas Cowboys home stadium is set to culminate this week. The billionaire owner, who used his suite at AT&T Stadium but typically traveled by yacht between June offseason workouts and late-July training camp, will attend the Tuesday semifinal between France and Spain. Cowboys executive vice president of business operations Chad Estis said Jones is an “event guy” who wanted to ensure the venue operated well. The stadium, opened in 2009, received about $350 million in World Cup upgrades after an initial $1.2 billion price tag. FIFA’s control added operational changes such as curtain placement for a rare sunset angle at kickoff. Jones has previously missed major moments including Lionel Messi’s Argentina games and Cristiano Ronaldo’s final World Cup match.
