Almost Half Of U.s. Singles Feel Negatively About Ai In Dating, Match Says
A Match Group study finds that 47% of U.S. singles hold negative views about AI in dating, illustrating a cautious stance toward AI's role in romance. Among 1,000 adults aged 18 to 39 surveyed, about 40% would reject dating someone who uses an AI companion app, and 51% of women aged 18 to 24 express a similar hesitation. The study notes that 12% of 18- to 24-year-olds have used a companion app in the last three months, and only roughly a third of those users sought genuine connections with chatbots. Despite concerns, the research also shows openness to AI features that help with the dating process, such as improving photos, profiles, or conversation prompts. Sixty-four percent of respondents said they could spot AI usage within a dating journey, indicating awareness rather than rejection. Match stresses that people want AI to solve tedious parts of dating, not to replace authentic human connection, and cautions developers to avoid overreliance on robotic interactions.
