An 18-year-old swim team member drowned at a lake. 2 teens are now charged with evidence tampering - and a family wants more
An 18-year-old swim team member, Daniel Erving, drowned in April at Lake Ray Hubbard near Dallas, and authorities have now charged two teens with evidence tampering. According to CNN affiliate WFAA, investigators charged 19-year-old Lucas Roper and a juvenile after Erving’s body was found, following an earlier death investigation launched by the Dallas Police Department. The case has fueled anger and speculation among Erving’s family. At a news conference Tuesday, his mother, Tameca Erving, said she believed he received “partial justice” and called for murder charges. Family attorneys, including Ben Crump, said the circumstances—friends alleged to have left after swimming and fishing—do not add up. An affidavit reported by KTVT alleges Roper threw out Erving’s clothes, drove away, and deleted text messages between them.
