Annual Walk for the Red Coming to Howell on 9/11

The Neighbors United Walk for the Red, now in its eighth year, will take place on 9/11 in and around Howell, Michigan, raising funds for firefighters battling cancer and supporting their families. Organizer and firefighter Joe Warne will leave Macomb Township Fire Station 2 on Thursday, September 10, traveling with multiple stops before ending at the White Lake Fire Department in Highland. On Friday, September 11, the walk starts at White Lake and heads along M-59 to Hacker, then continues via Grand River through Howell. The event launched in 2019 and has grown each year; last year drew hundreds of participants. Organizers say they have distributed $1.2 million to more than 300 Michigan firefighter families, and this year’s goal is $1 million.
