A cyber breach tied to the ransomware group World Leaks has reportedly exposed internal files linked to both Apple and Tesla through Tata Electronics, raising concerns about supply-chain risk. According to the report, the files surfaced on the dark web on June 10, and World Leaks claims to have published more than 200,000 files totaling over 630GB stolen from Tata Electronics, a key manufacturing partner for Apple outside China and a supplier to Tesla. Reuters found evidence in portions reviewed, including files labeled “com.apple.factorydata,” documents using Apple’s proprietary markings, and a 52-page document describing quality inspection standards for iPhone circuit board components. Searches within the archive returned 181 items referencing Apple and multiple Tesla-labeled manufacturing materials, including specifications and an assembly document dated May 2025. Tata says operations are unaffected and Apple launched an internal investigation. Tesla did not respond.
