Apple's new M6 iMac is a powerful and colorful all-in-one computer

Apple used the lead-up to its “Pro and Tell” event in Los Angeles to unveil a new iMac built around the M6 chip, with a wider palette of colors and a focus on on-device AI. The new iMac comes in two configurations: a 10-core CPU and GPU model starting at $1,499, and a 12-core CPU and GPU version starting at $1,699. Pre-orders begin Wednesday, with general availability on Nov. 6. The 24-inch 4.5K Retina display runs at 4480x2520 resolution and up to 500 nits peak brightness. Apple pairs it with 16GB or 24GB RAM and storage options from 256GB to 2TB, plus up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports. Apple claims up to 5x faster on-device AI performance than the M4 and positions it as strong for gaming and everyday tasks, with colors including blue, purple, pink, orange, yellow, green, and silver.
