Arborist frees bird trapped 30 feet in the air by discarded string

A corella in Australia has been freed after becoming trapped about 30 feet (9 meters) above the ground when discarded string tightened around its talons, one leg, and the thin branch where it was perched. Wires Wildlife Rescue said the bird was stuck for at least five hours, possibly longer, and that the branch was too flimsy for a standard rescue attempt. The group brought in local arborist Mohammed (@your.local.arborist), who provided his services free of charge. The rescue team said the corella was successfully released, though a prior vet check wasn’t possible. The incident also renewed calls to safely cut up and dispose of fishing line and string.
