Beagle 2: UK's first Mars landing honoured with 13 plaques

Beagle 2, the United Kingdom’s first Mars lander, is being honored with 13 plaques across the UK to mark its historic mission. The lander touched down on Mars on Christmas Day 2003 but was believed lost until January 2015, when it was confirmed that it had actually landed successfully. The commemorative plaques will be installed at venues including the Open University in Milton Keynes, the National Space Centre in Leicester, the Science Museum in London, Jodrell Bank in Cheshire, and Airbus in Stevenage, among others.
