Breaking: FIFA let Russia play in the U15 World Cup

FIFA has approved Russia’s participation in the U-15 World Cup, a decision that will affect both the men’s and women’s youth competitions under the same governing body. The tournament is scheduled for October 22–31, 2026, in Azerbaijan, with Russia entering its U-15 delegation. FIFA cleared the team despite Russia’s suspension from all football competitions, including events such as the European Championship, the Nations League, and the World Cup, following the conflict in Ukraine. The move is expected to draw controversy worldwide because it will be the first time since 2022 that a Russian delegation takes part in a FIFA competition. The announcement was made by FIFA under Gianni Infantino’s leadership.
