Bulgarian Pupils Embrace AI as Schools Seek Rules and Teaching Methods

A new Bulgarian study of 63 schools finds that nearly 95% of pupils have used artificial intelligence for education, but only 6.5% say they were taught how to use it at school. Presented June 30 by the Bulgarian Association of Software Companies (BASSCOM), the research covered more than 10,000 pupils, 1,767 teachers and 210 principals. It found 56% learned independently and almost half used AI daily or several times a week. Teachers mainly apply AI for lesson planning and preparing assignments, while classroom-wide, systematic integration remains limited. Separate data from November 2025 to January 2026 found 18% fact-checked ChatGPT information, and 11% asked for its sources.
