Crypto Hackers Steal $6.3 Billion From Binance in 'Largest Bank Heist in Human History'
xCruzo Brief
Binance said it expects customer withdrawals to resume by Sunday after a Thursday $6.3 billion crypto hack that insiders are calling the largest bank heist in human history. Roughly $3 billion of the stolen assets had been located and frozen across several exchanges, though Binance had not confirmed whether they’re recoverable, NBC News reported. Binance co-CEO Richard Teng said investigators so far suggest more than one hacker and described a “complex attack” that used a self-destruct mechanism, making tracing harder. Teng said customer assets are safe. The North Korean group TraderTraitor is reportedly suspected. U.S. Secret Service support is reportedly being used to track funds.
