Danny Boyle confirms AI use in Ink

Danny Boyle has confirmed he used AI in his new film, Ink, saying it was “good for animals.” The 69-year-old director told Vanity Fair at the Telluride Film Festival that the movie includes roughly 30 seconds of generative AI, used to animate “a couple of old photographs,” along with mice running around “The Sun newsroom.” Boyle also said he views AI as a useful tool when used respectfully and only if actors are paid when their roles are replaced through AI. He noted at the Venice Film Festival that AI could replace journalism, raising concerns about whether an AI journalist would “speak truth to the power” that created it.
