Developers drop Teviot wind farm bid near Hawick ahead of inquiry
xCruzo Brief
Developers have dropped plans for the Teviot wind farm near Hawick just weeks before a public inquiry was due to begin. Muirhall Energy’s proposal would have installed 52 turbines, each reaching up to 240m (790ft), on hills south of Hawick in the Scottish Borders. The Scottish Borders Council objected to the Teviot scheme, and the Scottish government’s planning and environmental appeals division had been preparing for the inquiry. Campaigners said they were relieved by the withdrawal. The company, however, stated it intends to return with revised proposals, keeping the future of a large-scale project in the region under review.
