Don't Want to Give AI Agents Your Logins? Here's How to Avoid It With 1Password for Claude
1Password’s new integration, “1Password for Claude,” is designed to let Anthropic’s Claude complete browser tasks that require logins and one-time passcodes without sending credentials into the AI model or storing them in its memory. The article cites YouGov research indicating 68% of Americans would not allow an AI agent to act without specific approval, partly due to concerns about prompt-engineering manipulation and user liability for an agent’s actions. As an example, a small business owner could ask Claude to generate a revenue summary or flag unusual activity using data from Stripe, with the business owner approving Claude’s use of a Stripe login. The tool handles both passwords and one-time codes to keep sensitive details out of the LLM. It also adds “Agentic Mode” to mitigate agentic browser risks by locking down 1Password when a compatible AI agent takes control, limiting access to only explicitly approved credentials for the current task. It is available on Mac across business, family, and individual plans, with setup requiring specific versions of 1Password and Claude apps and extensions.
