London’s FTSE 100 pushed higher, but U.S. markets opened under selling pressure as risk appetite weakened on renewed U.S.–Iran tensions. In early U.S. trading, the Dow Jones was down 611 points (1.16%) to 52,136, the S&P 500 slid 0.4% to 7,400, and the Nasdaq fell 0.5% to 24,763. Brent crude rose 6.9% to just under $90 after Donald Trump warned of a forceful response to Iran’s overnight attacks on U.S. assets. Tech stocks remained pressured on the Nasdaq 100, including SanDisk down 3.8%. Separately, BMW reportedly plans up to 8,000 job cuts in Germany as it responds to Chinese competition and EV transition costs.
