Gwynedd: Calls for action over 'inappropriate' campervan parking

A Gwynedd councillor has called on the local authority, Cyngor Gwynedd, to take action over what he describes as “inappropriate” campervan parking. Cae Larsen says there has been a rise in motorhomes and campervans being parked in unsuitable places such as lay-bys, car parks and scenic areas. While he acknowledged that campers contribute to the county’s tourism economy, he said responsible van owners are welcome and the current situation needs better control. Concerns have also been raised online about road and access problems, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service. Cyngor Gwynedd has four overnight motorhome parking sites, called Arosfan sites, charging £16.50 per night. Larsen points to Llyn Padarn in Llanberis, where an eight-space Arosfan site has reportedly been outnumbered by vehicles in adjacent bays, and he plans to raise the issue at the full council meeting on 24 September.
