Hackers claim they stole 'very sensitive data' from nearly all FBI agents

A hacking group called ShinyHunters says it stole “very sensitive data” from nearly all FBI agents and people who applied for FBI jobs, along with compromising the fbijobs.gov portal. The FBI confirmed Wednesday it is investigating the claims, and noted the “point of breach” remains undetermined—whether the compromise occurred via a third party or within the FBI’s own systems. ShinyHunters addressed FBI Director Kash Patel and cyber division head Brett Leatherman, warning agents and families could face extortion, swatting and other harassment. The group says the attack is retaliation for an FBI advisory issued in May, which it rejected.
