Halifax banking app starts closing today as millions told to switch to Lloyds
xCruzo Brief
Halifax customers are starting to lose access to the bank’s app today, October 5, as Lloyds Banking Group moves to scrap the Halifax brand. The transition began with warnings in September and the app is expected to be officially shut down on October 31. Customers are being told to switch to the Lloyds app for online banking, while keeping their existing accounts, savings, mortgages, credit cards, loans, and insurance. Halifax says the change should take “just a few clicks,” and that account numbers and sort codes are expected to remain the same, avoiding updates for employers or payment collectors. The rollout will be communicated via app, online banking, email, and post.
