Happy Death Day's Jessica Rothe & Chris Landon "Broke The Third Movie"

Jessica Rothe says she and Happy Death Day franchise writer/director Christopher Landon have “broken the whole story” for the next installment—though it still needs funding. Speaking at Deadline’s TIFF Studio about her new slasher River, Rothe explained that she and Landon worked on the plot for hours at an undisclosed Le Pain Quotidien location “between our houses,” and are now waiting for Universal and Blumhouse to provide “a little money.” Rothe starred as Tree Gelbman in Happy Death Day (2017), which follows a college student who relives her murder on her birthday, and later returned in Happy Death Day 2U (2019). In River, she plays Carla alongside Jane Levy, Max Mattern and Dane DiLiegro.
