Heartbroken woman scammed out of $10K by AI-using crook posing as Jon Bon Jovi
xCruzo Brief
Leslie Pickett, a Louisiana woman, says she was scammed out of more than $10,000 after an AI-based impostor posed as Jon Bon Jovi and won her trust over months. Pickett found what looked like Bon Jovi’s verified account on Instagram in late 2024, then quickly received messages from an unverified profile that appeared to belong to him. The scammer sent convincing videos, told her “I love you,” discussed details of their conversations, and even sent a bouquet to her home. He also claimed he and his wife had filed for divorce, kept secret to protect his image. Pickett’s account appears in National Geographic’s Super Scam Me documentary.
