Highways worker who died in M23 crash named as driver appears in court
A highways worker, Anthony Howe, has been named after he died following an M23 crash early on Wednesday, July 8. The court heard that Vilius Domarkas, 38, of no fixed address, appeared on Thursday, July 9, charged with causing death by dangerous driving in connection with the incident while driving a Citroen Relay van. The collision occurred at Junction 9 of the M23 near Pound Hill, Crawley. Domarkas was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on August 6. Detective Sergeant Rob Baldwin said police continue to support the victim’s family and that the investigation remains ongoing. Officers urged anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has relevant information such as dashcam footage, to come forward and share it under Operation Oakcross.
