Huge pod of dolphins breaches waters off Phu Quy
xCruzo Brief
Local fishermen off Phu Quy Special Zone in Vietnam spotted nearly 1,000 dolphins while operating at sea and recorded footage of the animals swimming and breaching above the water. The group was seen on October 6 near Hon Tranh, with dolphins moving together and surfacing at times. An experienced fisherman said dolphins often migrate to the area during periods of calm seas around the end or beginning of the year, and their presence is likely linked to abundant food that brings them to hunt. Fishermen interpret each pod’s visit as a sign of a favorable fishing season. Phu Quy island covers more than 18 square kilometers and is reachable only by boat.
