India's Tata Electronics hit by cyber breach claiming to expose Apple, Tesla trade secrets
India's Tata Electronics hit by cyber breach claiming to expose Apple, Tesla trade secrets reports that Tata Electronics detected a recent cybersecurity incident on June 22. The company said the matter was identified “a few weeks ago” and that its response protocols were deployed immediately, with no impact on operations across business lines. Reuters reported that researchers said World Leaks posted more than 200,000 files on the dark web totaling over 630 GB, including purported component design and specification papers tied to Apple and Tesla. Tata declined to comment on a ransom demand, while Apple was investigating and performing a “full analysis,” according to a source. The incident is described as another supply-chain setback for Apple in India, where Tata has previously faced scrutiny related to alleged contamination near an iPhone parts plant. Reuters could not verify the data’s authenticity and could not reach World Leaks for comment.
