Indiana RB Turbo Richard injury 'not so severe as it initially appeared'

Indiana appeared to dodge serious news after an early injury sidelined running back Tubro Richard in the Hoosiers’ 29-23 win over Northwestern on Friday night. Richard left the game in the second quarter after posting 68 yards on nine carries. Initial reports from CBS Sports said he suffered a high ankle sprain, which typically means multiple weeks out. But later on Saturday, ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg reported growing optimism that the injury is less severe. IndyStar’s Zach Osterman confirmed that there’s optimism he won’t miss much time. Indiana also remains without reserve RB Khobie Martin, out with a fractured forearm. Lee Beebe Jr. rushed for 203 yards in Richard’s absence. Richard posted on social media that he’s thankful for support and expects to return soon. The Hoosiers carry a 20-game win streak to Rutgers next week.
