Jodie Foster thinks 'big and beautiful' Oscar-winning film was made using AI: 'Wasn't it?'
Jodie Foster said she was convinced an Oscar-winning film she recently watched was made using AI, while also arguing that generative AI could be used to create “something big and beautiful.” Speaking on an Aspen Ideas Festival panel titled Who Owns the Future of Hollywood?, the 63-year-old compared her reaction to Brad Pitt’s 2025 movie F1, asking whether it was “made by AI.” Foster suggested the film’s structure and delivery of lines resembled how material would be produced by a computer, while praising the ability to “dominate the technology.” She expressed concerns that generative AI could “get rid of a lot of jobs,” but said unions could require payment for repeated use of an actor through digital replication. F1 earned $634.1 million worldwide, won Best Sound, and received a Best Picture nomination.
